The role of the Yayasan Untukmu Guru is focused solely on improving the quality of teaching of Indonesian children. We do this by drawing public attention and involvement to the need of professional teachers.
In 2008 a Continuous Training Program was implemented through Teaching Method Books for teachers of classes 3 and 4 Elementary Schools in Banten Province. This was part of the overall program of raising teacher knowledge, skills and a sincere and encouraging appreciation for their efforts. This is supplemented by providing resources that motivate ambitious goals, productivity and competitiveness.
Future Plans are already being drawn up to get public involvement, particularly the business segment, and to support the "Caring for Teachers Movement."
Early in 2008, Yayasan Untukmu Guru opened up Pre-school Education Model with Character Base that needed to run in community. This holistic education model was involving three aspects namely: to know, love, and be good.
This program is a path formal education for children age 4-6 years, where 2 teachers who intended for community who do not have the opportunities to enter their children for having earlier education managed each of school.
Yayasan Untukmu Guru in 2008 had successfully established 4 kindergartens, including:
- TK Kampung Bali, built on April 14th, 2008 with 38 of students, by utilizing RW 09 of meeting center practice facility, Kelurahan Kampung Bali, Jakarta Pusat.
- TK Waduk Melati was established on April 14th, 2008 with 51 students by u sing RW 05 of meeting hall facility, Kelurahan Kebon Melati, Jakarta Pusat.
- TK Martapura built on July 7th, 2008 with 33 students, used RW 02 meeting hall facility, Kelurahan Kebon Melati, Jakarta
- TK Masjid Jami An-Ni'mah built on November 3rd, 2008 with 24 students, utilized Jami An-Ni'mah Mosque facility, Kebon Kacang, Jakarta Pusat.
In accordance with the vision and mission, Yayasan Untukmu Guru tried to nurture the community awareness of the importance of education and professionalism of teachers, the program of kindergarten character base will continue to be developed through support of the founders like PT Plaza Indonesia Realty Tbk, PT Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia, Media Group, Metro TV and Media Indonesia. This program is also working with the Indonesian Heritage Foundation (IHF) and it has been expected to assist the Government to encourage accelerated service early childhood education, especially to reach the community teeming population.
